Dear alumni and friends of the Institute I,

I would like to cordially invite you to our 12th alumni meeting and materials colloquium of the Institute I on Friday, 03 June 2022. We are looking forward to exciting scientific lectures by alumni and current members of the Institute. At the same time, we will also be able to congratulate Prof. Hael Mughrabi on his 85th birthday this year and we are sure to hear one or two anecdotes from the old days in the lectures by his former companions.

In materials technology, additive manufacturing is currently of enormous importance. At our Institute I additive manufacturing processes and in particular the optimisation of materials for this purpose also play a very important role, on which Dr. Neumeier will report. Besides, the atom probe group has grown strongly in recent years and an important topic of Prof. Felfer is the further development of hydrogen technology. For the investigation of hydrogen damage mechanisms, an own atom probe made of titanium was built at the Institute, which can also be visited during the guided tours.

For the social part, we will meet in the foyer of the new IZNF building, as we did last time. Of course, you are also very welcome to join us for guided tours of our facilities. We ask for prior informal registration by 28 May 2022, which is important for planning, and we are looking forward to see you there.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Mathias Göken and all staff of the Institute I
