Equipment

The determination of the correlation between process parameters, microstructure and properties is the focus of the research activities of the institute WWI. The institute has extensive and excellent equipment in the field of metallographic preparation, microstructural characterization and mechanical testing. Also, various methods for mechanical, thermal or thermomechanical pre-treatments offer the possibility to adjust different microstructures in materials. For this purpose, corresponding roll stands and heat treatment facilities of different sizes and features are available. Furthermore, the rolling facilities are used for the production of nanostructured materials.
